IIA Cybercrime (VT)
Click here to go to the Cybercrime Code of Practice (Draft)

The IIA is concerned that we reach a balance between the legitimate needs of law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute criminal offences perpetrated over the internet, versus the privacy of end users and the cost to industry.

This taskforce, led by Telstra BigPond managing director, Justin Milne, has developed an industry code of practice to define rights and duties of industry players (in the first instance, ISPs) to facilitiate the balanced response required.

Priorities also include:

  • developing information sharing protocols with law enforcement agencies to address online fraud
  • moving to minimise the opportunities for, and increasing the detection and prosecution of online criminal activity
  • building a level of trust for the Australian e-commerce environment domestically creating an international competitive advantage for Australia through its reputation as a safe and secure on-line environment in which to do business.

Enquiries for participation should in the first instance be directed to the IIA Chief Executive, Peter Coroneos.
