Research and Internet Industry to Convene on the Digital Economy

The Internet Industry Association in collaboration with the CCI Centre of Excellence will hold their first joint industry/research showcase forum in Sydney on 2 December (afternoon, venue and time TBC).

The forum seeks to implement IIA's pre-election policy Manifesto* recommendation for greater collaboration between the industry and research sectors on matters relating to the digital economy.

Priority areas in which good evidence based policy is warranted:

  • eSecurity

  • innovation in broadband applications and services

  • achieving an adequate balance of rights in the copyright sphere while stimulating the development of new business models for online content delivery

  • cybersafety, particularly with regard to children; and

  • online privacy.

This inaugural meeting will herald to start of what we hope will become a strong and mutually beneficial relationship and help propel Australia to the forefront of digital economies globally.
