The IIA engaged in a seven week public consultation period and on that basis our drafting committee (a subset of the IIA Virtual Taskforce on Privacy) has made some changes to the draft in the light of comments received. Upon registration by the Federal Privacy Commissioner, expected this year, the Code will provide enforceable protections for end users and will provide Code subscribers with an unique opportunity to differentiate themselves in the market, both domestically and internationally by virtue of their adherence to what we understand to be the world's first industry-developed, government-backed privacy scheme.
