iCEO appointed to IIA

For more than a decade the IIA has provided strong, independent, impartial leadership of the Australia Internet sector.

“The IIA is proud to be Australia's first Internet industry association representing some 150 members from the broadest cross-section of the Internet industry in this region. We remain the only independent, totally member funded industry association in the sector.”

“The IIA Board also recognises that we are in a rapidly changing environment (one we are very used to having spent nearly 15 years in the Internet industry) and in order to maintain our momentum and agility to serve our members effectively in this rapidly changing environment, we confirm today the appointment of Anne Hurley as interim CEO of the IIA.”

“The appointment of an interim CEO (or iCEO) is nothing new to the Industry, Steve Jobs spent more than 2 years as iCEO in the late 1990s. It is about efficiently and effectively managing change in an agile manner following the retirement of a long serving CEO.”

“The Board is confident that Anne will execute the strategic vision of the Board and maintain the momentum of the IIA during this exciting phase of its growth” Mr. Linn added. class="Body1">“Anne is no stranger to the sector.  She has a very strong reputation, a depth of experience and insight.”

In her previous role as CEO of Communications Alliance, Anne advocated and supported industry self-governance and facilitated collaborative outcomes on industry issues. She was actively engaged in leading industry input on the policy and regulatory framework for telecommunications, the NBN and the Digital Economy.  Recognition for her work includes the ATUG Chairman’s Award for Contribution to the Industry in March 2010 and nomination as ‘one of the top 15 people in Telco in 2009’ by the leading industry journal Comms Day.

“The IIA Board’s vision to become more actively engaged with our members and to independently represent their interests and the general interests of a better, safer Digital Economy for Australia in the future, will be pursued with vigor by Anne, supported by an active Board and membership,  and by taking a collaborative approach with Government and other Industry participants to achieve these shared objectives.”
